Isla Coronado

By Holden

A few days ago, we were on Isla Coronado which is an island near Loretto. It is a volcano island with beautiful white sand beaches and the water is very clear. The first night we were there we had dinner on a boat called Tiamat. Ohana was there too. It was really fun, and dinner was delicious.

The next day we went to one of the beaches with Tiamat and Ohana. There were some dunes behind the beach, and they were great for playing hide and seek. Luke and I were really good. After that some people went snorkeling. It was very cool. I saw an eagle ray which is a ray that has spots and three stingers. The one that I saw was digging in the sand for food.

On our third day in Coronado, we hiked up the volcano with Misty and Ohana. It was slower than last time on the way up, but we made it. Some people stopped before the top but seven out of eleven made it to the top. The view was beautiful, and you could see a long way in all directions. On the way back down, we saw a scorpion and a tarantula. They were quite cool.

On the last day there we got out the inflatable pizza. The inflatable pizza is water toy shaped like a pizza that you tow behind something like our dingy. It goes very fast. You have to hold on very tight because it’s bouncing a lot. Sometimes there are two people on it and that is really fun because you can talk to each other while zooming along. We got on the dinghy and rode on the pizza. It was a lot of fun. That night we went to the beach and had a potluck. We played ping pong, and the score was:

  • 1st place: Nuri

  • 2nd place: Holden

  • 3rd place: Luke

  • 4th place: Josie

It was a lot of fun. With all the fun activities and all the nice people. Everyone enjoyed it a lot. It was a special experience for all of us.
